2 Hardy Kiwi Plants - Actinidia - Ken's Red Female and Male - 2.5" Pots - 9GreenBox

Kiwifruit, also known as Actinidia deliciosa, is a vine fruit that can be easily grown in home gardens with proper care and conditions. Ideally, it should be planted in early spring or late fall. It is worth noting that only mature female vines will bear fruit, and this will not occur until they are three years old.

Kiwifruit grows at a rapid pace, with only female vines producing fruits. Hardy kiwis, like Actinidia, have separate male and female flowers on different plants, a condition known as dioecious. To successfully grow kiwi fruit, it is necessary to plant one male vine for every eight or nine female vines.

These plants thrive in full sun exposure and favor soil that is moist yet well-drained. The soil pH level should be acidic. A mature kiwi plant can grow to heights of 15-30 ft and have a width of 6-10 ft. The blooming period occurs in spring, with the flowers being small, white, and highly fragrant.

Consistent feeding is vital during the growth and establishment of the vines. Proper pruning is necessary to promote increased fruit growth and to prevent the vines from becoming unmanageable. These plants are hardy and can endure in Zones 7-9, USDA.

Please be aware that the images provided are solely for reference purposes and depict mature plants. During the winter, all plants will be shipped in a dormant state, without leaves.
